How KidsLearnCash works

A free family ledger for allowance, chores, savings goals and wishlists. The money stays in your wallet, envelope or piggy bank; the app keeps every kid's balance straight and shows them what their money can do.

Free, and no bank account or debit card. KidsLearnCash doesn't hold or move money. It records what each kid earns, saves and spends, so you can hand over real cash and still teach how money works.

1. Set up your family

Sign in with Google or email, and add your kids. A first name or nickname is all you need. Both parents can sign in to the same family on any number of devices, and everything syncs.

2. Allowance on autopilot

Set an allowance for each kid — weekly, every two weeks or monthly — and it's added to their balance on schedule. Your kid's Home shows when the next one arrives and what it will do for the thing they're saving for.

3. Chores with rewards

4. Spending, with real sales tax

When your kid buys something, record it and their balance goes down — including your state's actual sales tax if you choose, so a $10 toy costs what it really costs at the register. Kids can record their own spending, and the app shows what a purchase cost in chores: "about 5 chores' worth."

5. Savings goals and wishlists

6. The Bank of Mom & Dad (optional)

Two ways to reward saving, both paid by you and recorded in the app:

7. Kids check their own money

On a shared phone or tablet, Kid Mode lets each kid sign in with their own 4-digit PIN and see only their own balance, chores and goals — in their own terms, like what a chore does for their goal. A Parent PIN switches back. Kids can also get an access link to use KidsLearnCash on their own device.

8. Grandparents and relatives

Invite relatives to Family Access: a limited view where they can see the kids' wishlists and goals, claim a gift or chip in, and suggest chores. They never see the full ledger, and you approve each person first.

9. Talk about it

For parents only, the app turns each kid's month into conversation starters — like "83% of what Maya spent this month went on games. Ask Maya: was it worth about 5 chores?" — or a nudge to celebrate their best month of saving.

Where it works
